Yogi Adityanath Inaugurates Indigo's Ayodhya-Ahmedabad Air Route
Indigo Airlines' direct air service between Ayodhya and Ahmedabad was officially launched by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath through a virtual event at his official residence. This new flight option provides devotees and tourists seeking the darshan of Lord Ram with a convenient direct route from Ahmedabad to Ayodhya. Addressing the occasion, the chief minister said, "With this direct flight, Ayodhya has become directly connected to Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad is the second place after Delhi to be connected to Ayodhya through air service. Starting from January 15, there will also be flight services between Ayodhya and Mumbai".
He announced the commencement of a new flight service between Delhi and Ayodhya scheduled to begin on January 16. Emphasizing the substantial impact of enhanced air services on tourism and business, the chief minister noted that the state's air passenger count had risen from 59.97 lakhs in the fiscal year 2016-17 to 96.02 lakhs in the fiscal year 2022-23, reflecting a growth rate of 29.46 percent over the past three years.
He shared that during the fiscal year 2016-17, Lucknow airport welcomed 39.68 lakh passengers, Varanasi had 19.16 lakh, Gorakhpur had 54,000, and Prayagraj received 45,000. However, in 2022-23, Uttar Pradesh witnessed a substantial surge in tourist arrivals, with Lucknow receiving 52.20 lakh, Varanasi 25.21 lakh, Gorakhpur 7.18 lakh, and Prayagraj 5.71 lakh passengers.
He emphasized the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where even an ordinary citizen can travel by air. The state government is committed to realizing this vision. He mentioned that five years ago, Ayodhya had a small airstrip, but today Maharishi Valmiki International Airport is operational. He added that Ayodhya is now a sought-after destination for everyone, and the government has improved its connectivity by road, rail, and air, aligning with the Prime Minister's vision.
Sharing information about the Ayodhya International Airport, he mentioned that the state government designated 821 acres of land for its development, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation successfully established a top-notch airport within the specified timeframe. Regarding IndiGo Airlines' operations in Uttar Pradesh, he highlighted that the airline offers flight services from eight cities in the state, namely Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Kanpur, Agra, Prayagraj, Bareilly, and Ayodhya. The frequency of flights is consistently on the rise.
